DSA Dental Smile Art

A Fixed Solution for All Your Teeth

This page focuses on fixed, implant-supported replacement of all teeth in one or both jaws; implant-retained removable dentures are discussed separately as an alternative. Full mouth implant treatment is an implant-supported fixed prosthesis for patients whose teeth are all missing, or cannot be saved, in the upper or lower jaw (or both). At DSA Dental Smile Art in Kuşadası, we prepare a personal treatment plan after a free examination and 3D CT scan, based on your bone, age and expectations.

What Are Full Mouth Implants and What Are the Options?

The aim of full mouth implants is to rebuild the whole jaw with a fixed set of teeth carried on a small number of implants. Unlike a removable full denture, the teeth stay fixed in the mouth, the palate is not covered and your sense of taste is not affected.

Main options:

  • All-on-4: 4 implants per jaw with a fixed bridge on top. It can often be done without a bone graft in patients with bone loss.
  • All-on-6: 6 implants per jaw. It gives a wider support base and is preferred especially in the upper jaw and for patients with a strong bite.
  • Conventional segmented bridges: if there is enough bone, 6–8 implants per jaw with zirconia bridges in sections.
  • Implant-retained removable denture: a denture that clips onto 2–4 implants (locator system) and can be removed for cleaning – an alternative depending on budget and bone.

Who is it suitable for? Adults who have lost all their teeth, are bothered by loose dentures, or whose remaining teeth cannot be saved because of advanced gum disease, and whose general health allows minor surgery.

Free initial assessment: the first examination, panoramic X-ray and 3D dental CT scan are free at our clinic. The 3D scan helps your dentist assess the available bone and plan the dimensions and position of each implant.

Our own laboratory: implant crowns and bridges are made in our in-house dental laboratory. The dentist and technician can check colour, shape and fit on the same day, which shortens the time between impressions and the final teeth.

Which implant brands do we use? We work with internationally certified Osstem, Hiossen and BEGO implant systems. If you prefer a different brand, we can source other well-known brands for you. You choose the brand together with your dentist, based on your bone, treatment plan and expectations.

Why Full Mouth Implants?

  • Fixed, secure teeth: the teeth do not move when you speak, smile or eat, and no adhesive is needed.

  • Chewing power restored: with implant-supported teeth you can chew hard and fibrous foods far more comfortably than with removable dentures.

  • The palate stays open: there is no plate covering the palate in the upper jaw, so taste and speech remain natural.

  • Bone and facial contours preserved: implants slow the shrinking of the jawbone and help prevent a sunken, aged look.

  • A long-lasting solution: with regular care and check-ups it lasts for many years; if the prosthesis wears, only the restoration needs renewing while the implants are kept.

TREATMENT PROCESS

Full Mouth Implant Treatment Step by Step

1. Free Examination and 3D CT Scan
The oral examination, panoramic X-ray and 3D CT scan are free. Bone volume is measured and together we decide whether All-on-4, All-on-6 or a conventional system is suitable. A written treatment plan and timeline are prepared.
2. Extracting Remaining Teeth and Preparation
Teeth that cannot be saved are extracted and infected areas cleaned. If there is enough bone, the implants can be placed in the same session; a bone graft is used if needed.
3. Implant Placement
The procedure is done under local anaesthetic and usually takes 2–3 hours per jaw. So that you are not without teeth, temporary fixed teeth are fitted on the same day or within a few days if conditions allow. Dissolving stitches disappear on their own within 10–20 days.
4. Healing Period (about 3–6 months)
Bonding of the implants with the bone usually takes 3 months, or up to 6 months in the upper jaw or with a bone graft. You carry on with daily life using temporary teeth; a soft diet is recommended.
5. Final Zirconia Prosthesis (5–7 days)
After healing, a digital impression is taken. The final zirconia bridges are made in our own laboratory and, after colour and shape try-ins, usually fitted permanently within 5–7 days.
6. Check-ups and Care
Check-ups are done every 6 months in the first year and once a year after that. Cleaning under the prosthesis with a water flosser and interdental brushes is the most important factor in how long your treatment lasts.

Full mouth implant treatment usually takes 3–6 months in total, depending on the method chosen and your bone. Most of this time is healing, spent with temporary fixed teeth.

For patients from abroad, treatment is usually completed in two visits: examination, CT scan, extractions and implant placement on the first visit, then the final zirconia teeth fitted within 7 days on a second visit about 3 months later.

Your Full Mouth Implant Guide

Frequently Asked Questions

What are full mouth implants?
It means rebuilding a jaw with no teeth with a fixed set of teeth carried on a small number of implants. All-on-4, All-on-6 and conventional segmented bridges are the options for this treatment.
How long does full mouth implant treatment take?
Placing the implants takes 2–3 hours per jaw. Healing usually takes 3 months, or up to 6 months in the upper jaw or when a bone graft is used. The final teeth are fitted within 5–7 days.
Will I be without teeth during treatment?
Not if conditions allow. Temporary fixed teeth are fitted on the same day or within a few days after the implants are placed, and you spend the healing period with these teeth.
How many implants does one jaw need?
Usually between 4 and 8 implants, depending on the bone. All-on-4 uses 4 implants and All-on-6 uses 6. The exact number is determined by the CT scan.
Can people with bone loss have full mouth implants?
In most cases, yes. With All-on-4, angling the back implants means that even with advanced bone loss a bone graft or sinus lift may not be needed.
Do I have to pay for the examination and CT scan?
No. The first examination, panoramic X-ray and 3D CT scan are free at our clinic.
Which implant brands are used?
We use Osstem, Hiossen and BEGO implant systems. Other well-known brands can be sourced on request.
Full mouth implants or dentures?
Removable dentures are cheaper, but over time they move, cover the palate and do not stop bone loss. Implant-supported fixed teeth give stronger chewing, natural speech and help preserve bone.
What material are the final teeth made of?
The final prosthesis is usually made of zirconia in our own laboratory. Zirconia is durable, close to natural tooth colour and resistant to staining.
Can older people have full mouth implants?
Yes. Older age alone is not an obstacle; general health and bone structure are what matter. If you have heart disease or diabetes or take blood thinners, your dentist plans treatment with the necessary precautions.
What should I eat after treatment?
Soft, lukewarm food is recommended for the first few weeks. With temporary teeth, avoid hard and sticky foods. Once the final teeth are fitted, you can return to a normal diet.
How long do I need to stay if I come from abroad?
Two visits are usually planned: a few days for the implants, then 7 days for the final teeth about 3 months later. We arrange transfers from İzmir Airport.
